Third week in Rotterdam(Tarvi)

Nightmare start to the week
The day actually started out quite well. Got up at the usual time before eight in the morning and had some breakfast. Then I went to work. The weather was quite nice.
At work I kept working on the banner they wanted me to do. First I had to make a Moqup and show them my ideas, but all of it was confusing because I just didn't understand what they wanted me to do.I understood that I had to create a banner that was above the navbar, but in the end there was nothing above the navbar, just the navbar itself with a logo on one side and the links on the other side.
Last week they had found some logo online that they thought would be nice, but now they wanted something different, so I had to look through the websites of different technical companies to draw inspiration from their logos. Finally I found some logos, but of course I couldn't just use someone else's logo so I had to change it. I didn't have photoshop on my computer because I had already used up my free trial and therefore had to use Illustrator. Until the end of the day, I worked on the logo for the website, changing some things, but it still was not quite what they had in mind and I had to make some adjustments. By the end of the day, I had a logo and I put it on the site and did some CSS to position it right.
After work I went home for a bit and then decided that I didn't feel like cooking, so I went instead to a mexican restaurant where I accidentally ordered the "All you can eat" menu, but it actually ended up being really cool. They gave me this tablet that I could use to order whenever I felt like it. Once I understood how the system works, I had a blast. I tried seven different things and they all tasted really really good.
Okay...This is where my day and my week was ruined. I went home and decided to check one of my two bank accounts because I wanted to be sure how much money was still on there. I didn't exactly remember. I opened the internet bank and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Shock. Awe. Disbilief. Confusion.
200 EUROS had been stolen from my account. 200 FU....ING EUROS was just gone. How the hell was it even possible when I had not made any transactions. I quickly called my parents and they told me to call the bank. From the bank I was advised to file an application for disputing the transactions. I did that, but those things don't happen overnight so hopefully I'll get my money back at some point.
But how does my money just disappear like that, when my wallet was pretty much always with me?
For now i'm 200 euros poorer.

I woke up, still feeling like crap and disappointed because of that awful discovery the previous evening. That morning we had agreed to meet Ellen at the Albeda college to have her sign some papers. The others had already met her, but not me. We rode there on our bikes and Ellen signed our neccessary documents. I didn't know what to expect from meeting her, but she was such a nice and positive person and actually made me smile and feel good for a change.
After meeting Ellen I went to work and truth be told, didn't have a very productive day. It was very hard to focus because my thoughts kept going elsewhere.
On the website, the logo I had messed around with the previous day had been changed in favor of another logo because they felt it fit better. No big deal.
That day I had a few smaller tasks. My coworker wanted help with finding a solution for combining two CSS elements(or something along those lines), I had to search out an image related to marketing and add it to the site with correct dimensions and I also had to work on the footer by changing some text and moving it to the center.
After work I visited an electronics store and bought a movie for myself and a CD of a Holland artist, for my long time friend from school.
09.05.18
At work I started where i left off the previous day, by changing some social media icons in the footer. Besides that I actually had pretty much nothing to do all day because they just didn't have any front-end related tasks for me. At one point something seemed to come up, but there was a problem and I didn't get to anything. Oh well. Sometimes these days happen.
At home I continued to practice cooking and this time made pasta with bacon.
The church is special, because it is the place where members of the Dutch royal family have been buried for centuries. The royal family has a crypt that is not available to the public(understandably) and it has been made bigger during the centuries, once room has started to run out. It's quite interesting, I had never given much though to where the Dutch royal family members are buried, but now I know.
I rode my bike around the old town some more and visited an expensive local bakery that is supposed to have really tasty products. Hopefully they are tasty because they were really expensive.
Delft is also special because it is the birthplace of Johannes Vermeer, the dutch artist who is the author of the famous painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring."
Apparently there's a Vermeer museum somewhere in Delft, but on first glance I did not see it and I didn't want to start going in random direction, because I didn't want to get lost. At least I learned something new today and was somewhat cultural.

Another productive day. We visited the Rotterdam Zoo and spent quite a few hours there. We went through the whole park and even made several circles because we couldn't find the lions. The zoo is really nice and has lots of room for the animals, which is always nice to see. There was also a big aquarium for the fish. Got to take lots of nice pictures.

Thursday was another holiday in The Netherlands, therefore a free day. I thought it was about time to do something cultural. I looked up museums nearby and there was one only a kilometer away. That museum was dedicated to Rotterdam during World War II. I honestly did not know anything about Holland during the second World War, so I thought it could be quite interesting. And it was interesting to learn something new about The Netherlands.
Explored the city more
I went shopping after the museum and then later out to eat. Nothing too much to write about

A very productive day at work, the opposite of what wednesday was. I had a few smaller tasks, but they took quite a while. First I had to add a contact form the the page. I tried doing it according to the instructions my coworker gave me, but the result did not look correct. I told my coworker and he said he had given the wrong way of doing it and he corrected the mistake himself.
Next I had to create a header for the contact form and make the contact form look clean and inviting. For that, I got rid of most of the text there by hiding it with CSS. making it look really compact and nice.
The next thing I did, was add a lightbulb logo to the contact form, with the correct coloring of course. Once I had done that, I was tasked with creating hover effects for the lightbulb logo and the social media icons in the footer.
That took a while, because I had to look for different solutions. I tried one way and it kind of worked, but as soon as i changed just a little bit of code, everything got messed up and that's why I decided that was not the way to go. Then I found this really short tutorial on youtube where a person showed how to do the same thing I needed, but with Javascript. I decided to try it myself and sure enough, it worked perfectly right away. First I gave that effect to the lightbulb logo and then to the social media icons in the footer.
My last task of the day was correcting an error on a certain page where the links were aligned incorrectly. I quickly understood where the problem was and corrected it. After that I was given no more tasks.
For dinner I made tomato soup.

I felt like finally it was time to see something outside Rotterdam. The people at work had been reccomending a small town called Delft and I thought why not. No harm in being a bit cultural. I took my bike and boarded a train to Delft. The trainride was short, about fifteen minutes.
The city is about the same size as Tartu and ringed by canals. It's quite a cute place.
I arrived in Delft and since I didn't have a particular place in mind where to go, I just picked a direction and went there. I quickly ended up on the main square that has some of the biggest attractions of the city, one of them was the New Church(nieuwe kerk), built in the 15th century.
